This varied collection of 17 works was completed to reflect the passage of thoughts within a two month time frame of experience played out across three connected themes:
The series of six collectible "New World
Mandalas" (1 to 6) reveal an original (previously unpublished) system
of numerology inspired by the artist's international pewter jewellery
collection ST
"Frosty"s Reef" "Rockpool #1" "Rockpool #2" "Islands #1" and "Islands #2" are about the simple pleasures of the coast and taking the time to appreciate what nature has provided. Colours of sun, sand, sea and rock offer five canvasses painted primarily using oil on hands as shown in the artist"s book Paint 2 Relax (available at reception). "Into the Dive" is an oil and bead homage to the fishing life of one of our coastline"s busiest birds - the seagull - while "Deep Sea Dreaming" takes us far below the surface to a mysterious place where an unfamiliar world awaits.
Three abstract pieces "Beneath the Green" "Junction #1" and "Junction #2 offer a visual commentary on the thought processes that bind us towards choosing one direction over another " and the opportunities each path may invite. The whimsical style of "Howard"s End" conveys a deeper message that reminds us of just how important some of those decisions really are. A portion from the sale of "Howard"s End" will be donated to WSPA as part of the artist"s ongoing support for this charity.
