Hi everyone,
First of all
I'd like to thank Clive Campbell (www.camberg.com.au)
for all the hard work he continues to do in creating and hosting all
three of my websites - hard to believe it's been 10 years - how the time
flies!
2010 is also a
special year for
ST RCODE™
- the spiritual self development jewellery system which I created back
in 1997. I plan to be adding a new product to the range this year (see
www.starcode.com.au).
On this page,
below, are some of my own favourite paintings. It features artworks I've
completed since 1999 when my first exhibition of charcoals sold out on
opening night in Canberra - a huge surprise for any self taught artist
and an event which signposted the beginning of many creative
opportunities to come throughout the next decade. I am grateful to those
who have helped along the way - the list is long and also full of good
memories.
As an intuitive
artist, every painting I do is a learning experience - yet every piece
also contains its own particular 'story' in the colours and lines that
shape its final design. Sometimes I begin with an idea or image in my
mind's eye and run with it. At other times I work with information
people send me to create a piece that (I hope) expresses something
colourful and meaningful about their own lives. These commissioned works
offer me the chance to combine meditation and painting as one creative
pathway towards expressing something internal as an external visual
image.
When I was growing up my parents
bought me heaps of 'how-to-paint' books which I really enjoyed using
and learning. These gave me some great tips on how to get started and I think my own art book ''PAINT 2
RELAX'
is a reference to that early part of my artistic journey. Since then, I
have sought to paint purely from memory in order to connect with
whatever image or movement emerged at the time. I enjoy using oils,
pencils, inks, gutta, chalk, pastels, wax, foil appliqué, acrylic and
charcoals to capture thoughts and emotions on canvas, wood and paper.
I'd like to thank
you for visiting my site today - here's to a safe and creative year for
us all in 2010.
Best wishes
